Generations Range :

‘The Judge’ is named after Joanne’s (nee Marshall) late grandfather The Honorable John Marshall who was judge of South Australia’s liquor licensing court, juvenile court and the federal family court of Australia. John was an avid lover of Eden Valley Rieslings and would have ‘judged’ this a superior wine.

“Le Maitre de Cave” is named after 3rd generation, Dorothy Seabrook the eldest daughter of TC Seabrook. During the depression years, most wine companies had to make do with the labour supplied by family. Dorothy, under instruction of her father, forwent her schooling and social life to work in the family business as a cellar hand at the age of 15. Rolling hogs head barrels filtering the wines and helping blend were amongst the tasks required at the time.

‘The Chairman’ is named in honour of Hamish’s late Grandfather Douglas Seabrook. Doug continued from his father Tom in the family wine business and was the longest serving chairman of judges at the Royal Melbourne Wine Show which spanned for more than 30 years. Doug willingly gave his time and energy to encourage interest in wine, particularly educating young people. His passion for the emerging industry was instrumental as he encouraged wine businesses to strive to make better wines as well as encouraging new and unexplored varieties and wine styles to be experimented with.

‘The Merchant’ is named in honour  2nd generation Thomas Claudius (T.C.) Seabrook (1886-1967), who was a respected wine merchant, judge and educator. At the age of 12, T.C. began work in the family business, WJ Seabrook & Son, a classic English wine merchant that imported and exported wines, and produced its own blends.

Lineage Range: The Seabrook family have been entrenched in the Australian Wine Industry for generations, either blending, importing or making wine, beginning with WJ Seabrook in 1878. Our ‘Lineage’ range pays homage to this unbroken line of Seabrook’s –  connecting our bloodline from the past, the present and hopefully the future.

Tasting Notes

‘Le Maitre de Cave’ Marsanne is youthful and expressive, bursting in aromas of nougat, toffee apple and hints of camomile and white peach. The palate is textural and crunchy with delicate fruit that fills the mouth and expresses time and place.

‘The Judge’ Riesling – This wine, sourced from premium vineyards in Eden Valley, has lifted aromas of cherry blossom, lemon sherbet and hints of freshly squeezed lime juice. The palate is bright and lively with lemon sherbet and delicate slate minerality throughout the flavor profile. Racy acidity lines the palate with precision and provides a wine of amazing length and intensity. Perfect drinking now or can be or aged to perfection over the next 5-10 years.

‘Lineage’ Pinot Grigio – The 2015 Adelaide Hills Pinot Grigio has lovely aromas of fresh-cut pears and peaches accented by soft citrus blossom notes. The palate is bursting with juicy nashi pear, honeydew melon and lemon sherbet flavors beautifully balanced with bright crunchy acidity.

‘Lineage’ Shiraz – The 2014 Langhorne Creek Shiraz has bright lifted aromas of ripe plums, blackberry and spice. The palate is medium to full-bodied and packed with dark complex fruits layered with liquorice, pepper and spice. This is complemented with beautiful subtle oak and soft integrated tannins.

The Merchant Barossa Valley  Shiraz – This wine, sourced from premium vineyards in the Barossa Valley is a delicious plush Shiraz with rich black forest fruits, pepper and subtle licorice undertones. Long velvety tannins add great complexity and structure ensuring it will reward with 7-10 years bottle age.

‘The Chairman’ Great Western Shiraz – Rich in dark, dense aromas of black pepper and fruitcake with hints of mocha and tobacco pouch lingering in the background. If one was to compare personalities, this would be a closed introvert who needs time to feel comfortable enough to open up. Once opened up this wine rewards with generosity and a verbose personality. The palate is rich and dense with blackberries, forest fruits, and black pepper. Beautifully integrated savoury and tactile tannins add complexity and balance. Perfectly balanced acid helps frame the wine and provide drive and direction to the palate.
